Juicy. Silky. Old vines, new energy.
Yalumba’s “Samuel’s Collection” Grenache is a vibrant, expressive red that brings together the heritage of Barossa Valley with a modern, drinkable style. Sourced largely from old bush vines — some of the oldest surviving plantings in Australia — this wine carries a sense of history in every glass, while remaining fresh, lively, and effortlessly enjoyable.
These bush vines are something special. Grown low to the ground and trained without trellising, they produce naturally low yields of intensely flavoured grapes. Their deep root systems draw character from the soils of Barossa, allowing them to withstand the region’s warm climate and deliver fruit of remarkable concentration and balance. It’s a traditional method that speaks to resilience, authenticity, and a deep connection to the land — qualities that shine through in the finished wine.
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby hue, hinting at its freshness and vibrancy. Aromas are lifted and inviting: wild strawberries, raspberries, and red cherries, layered with subtle spice, dried herbs, and a gentle earthy note. There’s a brightness here that sets it apart from heavier reds — fragrant, pure, and full of life.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and silky, with juicy red berry fruit at its core. The texture is soft and flowing, supported by fine tannins and a touch of spice that adds depth without weight. The finish is smooth, fresh, and quietly persistent, making it a wine that’s incredibly easy to return to.
For wine lovers in Ireland, this is a fantastic alternative to heavier reds — offering flavour and character without heaviness. It’s versatile, food-friendly, and perfectly suited to both casual meals and more thoughtful pairings. A modern expression of Grenache that honours its roots while embracing a lighter, more vibrant style.
Why we love it:
Old bush vines bring depth and character, while the style stays fresh and juicy. Bright red fruit, soft tannins, and effortless drinkability make it a standout Grenache.
