Heathcote Power with Tyrrell’s Precision.
Rufus Stone Shiraz from Tyrrell's Wines showcases the bold and structured character of Heathcote, one of Australia’s most respected Shiraz regions. While Tyrrell’s is synonymous with Hunter Valley, this bottling highlights their expertise beyond the estate, sourcing fruit from the distinctive red Cambrian soils of Heathcote in Victoria.
Heathcote is renowned for producing Shiraz of depth and concentration, shaped by ancient ironstone-rich soils and a warm continental climate moderated by cool evening temperatures. These conditions create wines with dark fruit intensity, natural structure, and impressive ageing potential.
In the glass, Rufus Stone reveals aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and plum layered with black pepper, liquorice, and subtle dark chocolate. The palate is fuller and more powerful than classic Hunter Shiraz, delivering rich dark fruit framed by firm yet polished tannins and well-integrated oak. The finish is long, structured, and confidently savoury.
For the Irish market, this wine offers a bold yet refined expression of Australian Shiraz — generous in flavour, balanced in structure, and highly food-friendly.
Why we love it:
We love Rufus Stone for its combination of Heathcote depth and Tyrrell’s winemaking restraint. It delivers richness and power while maintaining balance and clarity — a modern Australian Shiraz with real regional identity.
