Bold hops. British tradition. A powerful IPA inspired by Iron Maiden.
Trooper IPA is a hop-forward evolution of the iconic collaboration between Robinsons Brewery and Iron Maiden, created with the same attention to brewing quality that has made the Trooper range a global success. Developed alongside Bruce Dickinson, this stronger expression celebrates the great tradition of British IPA while adding a modern depth of flavour and intensity.
Inspired by the historic India Pale Ales that were brewed with extra hop character for long journeys overseas, Trooper IPA delivers a more pronounced hop profile while maintaining the balance and drinkability expected from an English ale. Brewed with a carefully selected combination of malts and hops, it brings together citrus, floral, and tropical notes with a solid malt backbone of biscuit, caramel, and toasted grain.
At 6.0% ABV, Trooper IPA offers more strength and complexity than the original Trooper, making it a beer designed for slow appreciation. The hops provide freshness and character, while the traditional English ale base keeps everything rounded and approachable. For beer lovers in Ireland, it represents a meeting point between classic British brewing heritage and the adventurous spirit that defines the Iron Maiden brand.
Why we love it:
Trooper IPA is where the collaboration really shows its ambition. It is not simply a beer with a famous name attached — it is a carefully crafted IPA with genuine character. The combination of expressive hops, smooth malt, and a slightly higher strength creates a beer that feels both traditional and contemporary. It has enough depth for experienced craft beer drinkers while remaining approachable for anyone discovering the world of IPAs.

IPA
Appearance
Deep golden amber with excellent clarity and a generous white head.
Aroma
Citrus peel, grapefruit, floral hops, tropical fruit, biscuit malt, and subtle caramel notes.
Palate
Medium-bodied with a balanced malt foundation followed by layers of citrus, grapefruit, and floral hop character. A firm but elegant bitterness provides structure, while caramel and toasted malt notes create balance. The finish is dry, refreshing, and pleasantly lingering with continued hop freshness.
The hop character and stronger profile make Trooper IPA an excellent match for bold flavours and grilled dishes.
Pair it with:
- Spicy burgers and pulled pork
- Indian curries and spicy Asian cuisine
- Grilled steaks and barbecue dishes
- Strong cheeses such as mature Cheddar
- Fried chicken and crispy dishes
- Perfect for craft beer evenings, live music nights, and discovering a stronger IPA style in Ireland
Serve slightly chilled rather than ice cold to allow the citrus, floral hops, and malt complexity to fully develop.
