Strega is one of Italy’s most iconic liqueurs – a luminous golden spirit crafted in the town of Benevento, Campania, where legend tells of witches (or streghe) gathering under moonlight. Since 1860, it has been made to the same secret recipe of around 70 herbs and spices sourced from around the world – from Mediterranean myrtle and fennel to rare saffron, which gives Strega its distinctive golden hue.

The result is a complex, aromatic liqueur that is at once herbal, floral, and gently sweet, with layers that unfold on the palate. In Ireland, Strega is enjoyed both as a digestif and as an elegant twist in cocktails, bringing a touch of Italian magic to any glass. Strega has been made in Benevento for over 160 years by the Alberti family, who still guard the recipe closely. Every batch is distilled using traditional copper stills, blending local herbs with rare botanicals from across the globe. Its name – Italian for “witch” – nods to the town’s folkloric past and the magic that seems to linger in every drop. Today, it’s treasured worldwide, from Italian cafes to cocktail bars in Ireland.
