Some rums are designed to be polite. Sailor Jerry isn't one of them. Inspired by the old-school tradition of sailors seasoning their rum rations with spices, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum is bold, smooth and full of character, built around Caribbean rum and a distinctive blend of natural flavours. Vanilla and cinnamon lead the way, with warm spice, toasted toffee and a gently dry finish giving it considerably more depth than its easy-drinking reputation might suggest. The name comes from Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins, the legendary American tattoo artist whose bold, precise nautical designs helped define the traditional tattoo style. His philosophy was simple: originate, don't imitate. That spirit carries through into the rum, which takes inspiration from the way sailors historically spiced their onboard rations rather than simply chasing sweetness. The result is a spiced Caribbean rum with a little more backbone — and one that deserves more attention in Ireland than it currently gets.

If you're discovering Sailor Jerry for the first time, start with the classics: cola and plenty of ice, ginger beer and lime, or simply over ice. But don't stop there. Its vanilla, cinnamon and dry toasted character make it surprisingly good in proper cocktails too, from a Rum Old Fashioned to a spicy Daiquiri. It's an easy bottle to enjoy, but there's enough personality here to keep coming back to.
