Time-honoured. Elegant. A Brunello born of family, patience, and place.
In the quiet hills northeast of Montalcino, where the light shifts gently over olive trees and vineyards, Podere San Giacomo has been crafting wine with soul since 1993. What began as a dream shared by Claudio Nardi and Graziella Pieri has grown into a deeply personal estate, where three generations now work side by side. Their Brunello di Montalcino is a faithful expression of this land — not just the clay-limestone soil and Tuscan sun, but the humility and care of a family committed to doing things the right way.
Grapes are grown on just five hectares of vines, tended organically, and harvested by hand. Fermentation is spontaneous, maceration is traditional, and ageing takes place slowly — three years in large Slavonian oak barrels and another in bottle, with nothing rushed. The result is a Brunello that speaks softly but with great depth: a wine of perfume, polish, and quiet power.
Why we love it:
This is Brunello as it was meant to be: elegant, restrained, and soulful. It doesn’t shout — it lingers. It evolves. It invites a second glass not with flash but with finesse. A wine made by people who care deeply, for people who drink thoughtfully.

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

- Sangiovese

Colour
Deep ruby with garnet edges and warm depth.
Nose
Red cherry and forest fruit, lifted by rose petals, leather, and sweet spices. Subtle notes of tobacco, wild herbs, and earth unfold with time in the glass.
Palate
Refined and layered. Silky tannins glide through flavours of ripe plum, sour cherry, and cedar, with a touch of dried orange peel and balsamic echo. Elegant, mineral, and long on the finish.

An ideal match for rustic Italian flavours and refined fare alike:
- Bistecca alla Fiorentina or grilled lamb with rosemary
- Pappardelle with wild boar ragù
- Porcini mushroom risotto
- Aged cheeses like pecorino toscano or Parmigiano Reggiano
- Braised meats or slow-roasted game

36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by 12 months in bottle.

Podere San Giacomo is a small, family-run estate rooted in authenticity. Founded by Claudio and Graziella in the early 1990s, and now guided by their daughter Elena and nonno Bruno, it has become one of the quiet jewels of Montalcino. Their wines are made with a hands-off philosophy: native yeasts, traditional vinification, long aging in large oak, and a patient, respectful approach to the land. The result is wine that reflects not only the terroir but the soul of the people behind it.
