About this product

Time-honoured. Elegant. A Brunello born of family, patience, and place.
From the sun-drenched hills surrounding Montalcino, Podere San Giacomo crafts its Brunello with patience, tradition, and a profound respect for the Sangiovese grape. These vineyards, perched on clay-limestone soils at high elevations, benefit from the warm Tuscan days and cool nights, producing grapes with intensity, balance, and aromatic depth. Every bottle reflects the estate’s meticulous care — hand-harvested grapes, slow fermentation, and extended aging in large oak casks and bottle before release.

In the glass, the Brunello reveals a deep garnet color, with aromas of ripe cherries, plum, dried herbs, leather, and subtle hints of spice and cedar. The palate is layered and refined: structured tannins support concentrated red fruit, with nuanced earthy and balsamic notes, finishing long and persistent. Each sip evokes the rolling Tuscan hills, the sun-warmed earth, and the artistry of Podere San Giacomo’s winemaking.

This Brunello di Montalcino pairs beautifully with hearty meat dishes, slow-cooked stews, aged pecorino, or simply savored on its own during special moments. On Irish tables, it brings elegance, depth, and a genuine taste of Tuscany’s celebrated terroir.

Why we love it:
Podere San Giacomo’s Brunello is all about balance and finesse. Ripe cherry and plum flavours combine with earthy undertones, subtle spice, and hints of vanilla from oak ageing. It’s structured yet elegant, a wine that can be enjoyed now or aged further. In Ireland, it offers wine lovers a taste of Tuscany’s finest, ideal for festive meals, celebrations, or simply savouring a moment of indulgence.

36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by 12 months in bottle.

Podere San Giacomo is a small, family-run estate rooted in authenticity. Founded by Claudio and Graziella in the early 1990s, and now guided by their daughter Elena and nonno Bruno, it has become one of the quiet jewels of Montalcino. Their wines are made with a hands-off philosophy: native yeasts, traditional vinification, long aging in large oak, and a patient, respectful approach to the land. The result is wine that reflects not only the terroir but the soul of the people behind it.
