About this product

Time-honoured. Elegant. A Brunello born of family, patience, and place.
From the sun-soaked hills of Montalcino, Podere San Giacomo presents their flagship Brunello di Montalcino, a wine of depth, elegance, and true Tuscan character. Crafted from carefully selected Sangiovese grapes and aged patiently, this Brunello expresses the richness of the region while maintaining a refined, approachable style — perfect for special occasions or showcasing authentic Italian wines in Ireland.

This Brunello is a testament to time, terroir, and craftsmanship. The careful maturation in fine oak barrels allows the fruit to develop complex layers of flavour and structure, resulting in a full-bodied wine with polished tannins and a lingering, harmonious finish. It’s a wine that invites slow sipping and thoughtful pairing, rewarding those who appreciate the art of Tuscan winemaking.

Why we love it:
Podere San Giacomo’s Brunello is all about balance and finesse. Ripe cherry and plum flavours combine with earthy undertones, subtle spice, and hints of vanilla from oak ageing. It’s structured yet elegant, a wine that can be enjoyed now or aged further. In Ireland, it offers wine lovers a taste of Tuscany’s finest, ideal for festive meals, celebrations, or simply savouring a moment of indulgence.

Colour
Deep ruby with garnet edges and warm depth.

Nose
Red cherry and forest fruit, lifted by rose petals, leather, and sweet spices. Subtle notes of tobacco, wild herbs, and earth unfold with time in the glass.

Refined and layered. Silky tannins glide through flavours of ripe plum, sour cherry, and cedar, with a touch of dried orange peel and balsamic echo. Elegant, mineral, and long on the finish.

  • Bistecca alla Fiorentina or grilled lamb with rosemary
  • Pappardelle with wild boar ragù
  • Porcini mushroom risotto
  • Aged cheeses like pecorino toscano or Parmigiano Reggiano
  • Braised meats or slow-roasted game

Podere San Giacomo is a small, family-run estate rooted in authenticity. Founded by Claudio and Graziella in the early 1990s, and now guided by their daughter Elena and nonno Bruno, it has become one of the quiet jewels of Montalcino. Their wines are made with a hands-off philosophy: native yeasts, traditional vinification, long aging in large oak, and a patient, respectful approach to the land. The result is wine that reflects not only the terroir but the soul of the people behind it.
