McRae Wood Shiraz is one of the flagship red wines from Jim Barry Wines, sourced from a dedicated estate vineyard in the Clare Valley. Planted in 1964 and named after Peter Barry’s maternal grandfather, this vineyard produces Shiraz of depth, structure, and unmistakable regional character.

Clare Valley’s elevated continental climate plays a crucial role here. Warm days allow for full flavour development, while cool nights preserve freshness and aromatic lift. The result is a Shiraz that combines power with poise — generous dark fruit framed by fine tannins and balanced acidity.

The nose opens with blackberry, dark plum, and black cherry layered with cracked pepper, subtle liquorice, and cedar from carefully integrated oak maturation. On the palate, McRae Wood is full-bodied yet refined, delivering concentrated fruit supported by structured tannins and a long, savoury finish.
