About this product

An Australian Icon of Power, Precision and Longevity.
The Armagh Shiraz is the flagship wine of Jim Barry Wines and one of the most revered single-vineyard Shiraz expressions in Australia. Sourced from the historic Armagh vineyard in Clare Valley — planted in 1968 — this wine represents concentration, structure, and extraordinary ageing potential.

The vineyard sits at elevation in Clare’s cool continental climate, where warm days and crisp nights allow Shiraz to ripen slowly while retaining freshness and definition. Low yields and meticulous vineyard management result in fruit of remarkable depth and intensity.

The nose is powerful yet refined: blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum layered with cracked pepper, dark chocolate, liquorice and finely integrated oak spice. On the palate, The Armagh is full-bodied, dense and structured, yet impeccably balanced. Firm, fine-grained tannins provide architecture, while vibrant acidity carries the wine through a long, commanding finish.

Despite its power, this is not a heavy wine. It is sculpted, controlled, and built for longevity — capable of cellaring for decades under proper conditions.

For serious collectors and fine wine lovers in Ireland, The Armagh stands as a benchmark Clare Valley Shiraz and a statement bottle for any premium portfolio.

Why we love it:
We love The Armagh for its authority and composure. It delivers richness without excess, structure without harshness, and complexity that unfolds slowly in the glass. It is a wine of patience, pedigree, and quiet confidence.
