The story of El Dorado is inseparable from the history of rum production along Guyana's Demerara River. At the heart of the range are several historic stills with personalities of their own, including the Enmore Wooden Coffey Still, Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still, Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still, and Diamond Coffey Still. Each produces a different style of rum, from rich and powerful pot-still spirit to lighter, more aromatic column-still expressions. One of the most fascinating components is the spirit from the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still, whose distinctive character contributes an earthy, almost peat-like quality to the finished rum.
