About this product

Late harvest brilliance from Sardinia’s sun-kissed hills.
VT, standing for Vendemmia Tardiva or “late harvest,” signals Capichera’s masterful approach to crafting a Vermentino that balances richness with freshness. This wine is sourced from estate-grown Vermentino grapes, hand-harvested later in the season to capture intensified aromas and depth, yet still retaining the vibrancy and minerality that Sardinia’s unique terroir imparts.

Marking a milestone for the estate, this is Capichera’s first experiment with barrel aging their Vermentino. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine matures for 4–6 months in a combination of barriques and barrels, adding subtle layers of texture and complexity while respecting the grape’s delicate aromatic profile.

From the bright straw yellow hue with golden highlights to the expressive bouquet, VT invites you on a sensory journey: imagine orange blossoms in full bloom, zesty lemon peel, gentle lavender notes, and a delicate touch of honey. On the palate, it is dry yet full-bodied, enriched by the late harvest’s ripeness but kept elegant by crisp acidity and a refined mineral finish.

Why we love it:
Capichera VT Vendemmia Tardiva is a rare gem that balances the lusciousness of late harvest with the crisp minerality of Sardinia’s terroir. The subtle influence of barrel aging adds an elegant texture and complexity, making this wine perfect for those who want to experience a richer, more nuanced Vermentino. Whether savoured with seafood or enjoyed on its own, it offers a vivid taste of Mediterranean elegance.

Founded in the late 1970s by the Ragnedda family, Capichera has pioneered the Sardinian Vermentino style — a wine that captures the island’s rugged granite soils and sea breezes. The VT represents their innovative spirit, showcasing how late harvest techniques combined with barrel aging can deepen complexity without losing the grape’s signature freshness. Crafted in the heart of Sardinia, this wine stands as a true ambassador of the Isola dei Nuraghi IGT appellation.
