About this product

Assajé — “there is already something.” Sardinia uncovered.
“Assajé”, meaning “it’s enough” in the ancient Gallurese dialect, was the first red wine ever produced by Capichera, the iconic Sardinian estate renowned for its uncompromising quality. It marked the beginning of a new chapter for the island’s winemaking — a bridge between Sardinia’s wild beauty and a world-class expression of its terroir.

Crafted mainly from Carignano, with a touch of Syrah, Assajé bursts with the scents of sun-ripened blackberries, plums, and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is generous and enveloping, revealing layers of dark fruit, spices, and silky tannins that reflect the granite soils and coastal breezes of northern Sardinia. Matured in fine oak, it offers both elegance and intensity — a wine of depth, structure, and soul.

For those in Ireland seeking something truly distinctive, Assajé is an invitation to discover Sardinia’s untamed charm. It’s a red that speaks of sea and stone, of tradition and innovation — perfect for slow evenings, rich meats, or simply savouring on its own.

Why we love it:
Assajé is a wine of presence and poise. It balances richness with elegance, maturity with freshness, and tradition with refinement. With every sip you taste Sardinia’s wild character, its granite soils, its sea breezes—and Capichera’s uncompromising commitment to expressing them fully. A bottle worth cellaring, sharing, and revisiting.

Colour
Intense ruby red with vivid violet edges.

Nose
Ethereal yet vinous—a rich tapestry of black cherries, ripe blueberries, myrtle, spice, eucalyptus and cocoa, leaning into saline freshness.

Warm and full-bodied with concentrated black fruit, fine-grained tannins, savoury salinity, and a long, structured finish. Despite its power, elegance prevails.

Assajé pairs splendidly with bold, rustic flavours:

Capichera, champion of Sardinian terroir since the late 1970s, built its reputation on expressive Vermentino. In 1997, they turned ambition toward red wine, crafting Assajé from indigenous Carignano blended with Syrah. The name itself—Assajé—means “there is already something,” capturing the wine’s confident identity and sense of place.
