Elegant. Layered. A tribute to heritage and craftsmanship.
Boschendal Nicolas is a sophisticated Cape blend that pays homage to Nicolas de Lanoy, one of the estate’s earliest pioneers and a visionary in South African viticulture. This wine represents Boschendal’s commitment to excellence: meticulous vineyard selection, precision blending, and a long-standing belief in crafting reds that balance richness with refined structure.
The composition is both complex and masterfully harmonious: 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Shiraz, 22% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec, and 4% Petit Verdot. Each variety contributes its own character — Cabernet Sauvignon for backbone and cassis-driven elegance, Shiraz for spice and plush fruit, Merlot for softness, Cabernet Franc for aromatic lift, Malbec for depth, and Petit Verdot for final polish and structure. Matured in oak, the wine reveals deep berry fruit, warm spice, floral hints, fine tannins, and a long, velvety finish.
For wine lovers in Ireland, Nicolas offers a premium red that feels luxurious yet effortlessly drinkable — ideal for refined dinners, long evenings by the fire, or special occasions where a sense of craft and heritage is appreciated. It is a wine that speaks of place, history, and the art of blending at the highest level.
Why we love it:
A beautifully composed Cape blend with refined structure and layered complexity. Ripe fruit, spice, and seamless balance make it the perfect premium red for elegant dinners and special occasions in Ireland.
