About this product

The Blue Bottle That Helped Define Modern Gin.
Some bottles become famous because of what's inside. Bombay Sapphire managed to become famous for both the gin and the bottle. With its unmistakable blue glass, elegant presentation and distinctive botanical character, Bombay Sapphire has become one of the defining names of modern gin — and a familiar sight behind bars and on drinks shelves around the world.

At its heart is a carefully balanced recipe built around 10 hand-selected botanicals, including juniper, lemon peel, coriander, orris root, angelica, cassia, cubeb berries and grains of paradise. Rather than boiling the botanicals directly in the spirit, Bombay Sapphire uses a vapour-infusion process, allowing their delicate aromatic oils to be extracted while preserving a bright, fresh character.

The result is a London Dry Gin that sits beautifully between traditional juniper character and modern citrus freshness. It is aromatic without being overpowering, gently spicy without becoming heavy, and versatile enough to work in everything from a straightforward Gin & Tonic to a classic Martini or Negroni.

For Ireland, where Bombay Sapphire has long been one of the best-known premium gin names, this is the dependable classic that deserves its place in any home bar.

Why we love it:
Bombay Sapphire gets the fundamentals right. Bright citrus, lively juniper and subtle spice give it plenty of character, while its smooth, balanced profile makes it exceptionally easy to mix. It's familiar enough to please almost anyone, but distinctive enough that you can immediately recognise it in a classic G&T or Martini.

Country of origin

England

Colour
Crystal clear and brilliantly bright.

Nose
Fresh juniper leads into bright lemon citrus, coriander and delicate floral and herbal aromas.

Palate
Smooth and balanced, with lively juniper and fresh citrus at the centre. Coriander, cassia and grains of paradise bring gentle warmth and spice, while the overall character remains clean and elegant.

A generous pour, plenty of ice and a good tonic are all Bombay Sapphire really needs. For the classic serve, use 50ml gin with around 100–150ml premium tonic and finish with a fresh lemon wedge or twist.

Its balanced botanical profile also makes it particularly versatile in cocktails. Try it in a Martini, Negroni or Gin Mule, where its citrus and spice notes work naturally with vermouth, bitter aperitifs, ginger beer and fresh lime.

Serve well chilled over plenty of ice.

Easy Home Cocktail

Bombay Sapphire Gin & Tonic

  • 50ml Bombay Sapphire
  • 100–150ml premium tonic
  • Plenty of large ice cubes
  • Fresh lemon wedge or twist

Fill a large copa or wine glass with ice. Add the Bombay Sapphire, slowly pour in the tonic and give it one gentle stir. Finish with a lemon twist or wedge.

Simple, refreshing and for good reason one of the world's great classic serves.

Bombay Sapphire takes its name from the Bombay gin style that became popular in colonial-era India, but the modern brand was launched as a distinctive premium London Dry Gin built around its blue bottle and botanical-led character. Today the gin is produced at Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire, where Bombay Sapphire continues to use its vapour-infusion technique and 10 botanicals sourced from around the world. The brand's approach is deliberately focused on allowing each botanical to contribute its own character rather than overwhelming the blend with one dominant flavour.
