About this product

Ancient. Powerful. The soul of Georgian winemaking.
Bedoba Saperavi is a captivating red wine that offers an authentic taste of the country where wine was born. Crafted from 100% Saperavi, Georgia's flagship red grape, this wine combines deep colour, vibrant fruit, and remarkable freshness in a style that is both distinctive and wonderfully approachable. It is a bottle that invites you to discover over 8,000 years of winemaking tradition in every glass.

Produced in the renowned region of Kakheti by Bedoba, Bedoba reflects a new generation of Georgian wines that honour ancient heritage while embracing modern precision. Although Georgia is increasingly recognised by wine enthusiasts around the world, it remains a hidden gem for many consumers in Ireland, making this an exciting opportunity to explore one of the world's oldest and most fascinating wine cultures.

The name "Bedoba" translates roughly as "Day of Luck" or "Lucky Day", a traditional Georgian celebration associated with good fortune, hospitality, and sharing food and wine with family and friends. That spirit of generosity is beautifully reflected in this bottle—warm, expressive, and made to be enjoyed around the table.

Unlike many international red varieties, Saperavi is one of the rare teinturier grapes, meaning both its skin and flesh are naturally red. This gives the wine its remarkably deep colour and contributes to its impressive structure and ageing potential. Yet despite its intensity, Bedoba presents Saperavi in a balanced, fruit-driven style that remains accessible from a young age.

In the glass, it displays an intense ruby-purple colour with almost opaque depth. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, damson plum, violets, and blackcurrant unfold alongside hints of liquorice, sweet spice, and subtle earthy notes. The bouquet is rich without feeling heavy, combining ripe fruit with an intriguing savoury complexity.

The palate is full-bodied and beautifully structured, delivering layers of dark berry fruit, plum, and black cherry supported by firm yet polished tannins. Fresh acidity keeps the wine vibrant and balanced, while gentle notes of black pepper, cocoa, and dried herbs emerge towards a long, satisfying finish. It is a wine with real personality—powerful, but never overwhelming.

For wine lovers in Ireland looking to step beyond the familiar classics of France, Italy, or Spain, Bedoba Saperavi offers a truly rewarding discovery. It brings together ancient winemaking heritage, distinctive native grapes, and exceptional value, making it one of the most exciting red wines to emerge from the Caucasus.

Why we love it:
Saperavi is unlike almost any other red grape you'll encounter. Deeply coloured, intensely fruity, and beautifully structured, it delivers the richness of a powerful red while retaining freshness and elegance. Bedoba captures that balance perfectly, making it an outstanding introduction to the remarkable wines of Georgia.
