A New Chapter in Chivas Mastery.
Sixteen isn't just a number for Charles Leclerc. It is the number he has carried throughout his Formula 1 career, and it became the starting point for an unusually ambitious whisky collaboration. Chivas Regal 16 is the brand's first-ever 16-year-old expression, bringing together 16 carefully selected whiskies, each aged for at least 16 years, in a bespoke blend created in partnership with the Ferrari F1 star.
But this isn't simply a celebrity bottle with a famous name on the label. Leclerc was genuinely involved in the creative process, working alongside Chivas Master Blender Sandy Hyslop and drawing on his personal preference for the rich character of Longmorn malt. The resulting blend is deliberately deeper and more opulent than you might expect from the standard Chivas profile, with toasted oak, dark toffee and warming cinnamon at its heart.
The story of the number sixteen runs right through the bottle: 16 whiskies, all at least 16 years old, and a blend created around the mindset of continually pushing beyond the previous standard. It gives the whisky a modern sense of purpose while retaining the richness and generosity that have always been central to Chivas Regal.
For whisky drinkers in Ireland, this is a particularly interesting Chivas to discover. It has the familiarity of a luxury blended Scotch but with a darker, more richly spiced personality, making it equally suited to a quiet dram, a splash of water or a beautifully simple whisky cocktail.
Why we love it:
Chivas Regal 16 feels like a proper collaboration rather than a name slapped onto an existing whisky. The combination of mature whiskies and Longmorn at its heart creates a rich, velvety style, while toasted oak, dark toffee and cinnamon give it warmth and depth. The Charles Leclerc connection adds plenty of collector appeal, but thankfully there is a serious whisky underneath the story. A modern Chivas with genuine substance.
Scotland
Colour
Rich golden amber.
Nose
Sweet mandarin and Manuka honey, followed by buttery toasted almond and gentle oak.
Palate
Rich and rounded, with toasted oak and dark toffee joined by warming cinnamon and deeper, slightly roasted notes.
Start with it neat, ideally in a tulip-shaped whisky glass, and give it a few minutes to open. A small splash of water is also worth trying, particularly if you want to draw out the honeyed fruit and almond character.
For a longer, more relaxed serve, pour over a large cube of ice. Its rich toffee and cinnamon character also makes it particularly well suited to a simple Whisky Old Fashioned.

Chivas Regal traces its roots to Aberdeen, Scotland, where the Chivas Brothers began developing their reputation for refined blended Scotch. The modern range is built around the idea of combining carefully selected malt and grain whiskies to create rich, layered blends. Chivas Regal 16 marks a new chapter for the house as its first-ever 16-year-old whisky, created with Charles Leclerc and built around 16 whiskies aged for at least 16 years, with Longmorn providing an important part of the blend's character.
