Naturally Cloudy, Wonderfully Fruity and Full of Bavarian Character.
Some beers are made to be enjoyed slowly, and Benediktiner Weissbier is a fine example of the traditional Bavarian wheat beer style. Naturally cloudy, golden-orange in colour and crowned with a generous white head, it brings together a full-bodied malt character, lively carbonation and refreshing fruitiness. It’s a beer with plenty of flavour, yet one that remains smooth, balanced and easy to enjoy.
Brewed in Lich, Germany, according to the original recipe of Benediktiner Weissbräu in Ettal, this traditional Weissbier draws on the long heritage of German wheat beer brewing. Its recipe combines wheat malt and barley malt with hops and yeast, while top fermentation helps develop the fruity and spicy characteristics that make the style so distinctive. The beer is deliberately left naturally cloudy, allowing suspended yeast to contribute to its appearance and overall character.
At 5.4% ABV, Benediktiner Weissbier offers a satisfying balance of richness and refreshment. The aroma brings together ripe cereal grains and dark honey, with lively notes of orange peel, clove and herbs. On the palate, the malt sweetness is complemented by a gentle citrusy freshness and mild bitterness. Its soft, rounded body and fine, persistent foam make every sip feel smooth, while the lively carbonation keeps the beer from becoming heavy.
This is a versatile choice for anyone who appreciates traditional German beer, whether you're already a fan of Weissbier or looking to discover the style. It’s equally at home alongside a hearty meal, a plate of sausages or a relaxed afternoon with friends. Serve it in a proper wheat beer glass to appreciate its colour, aroma and creamy head, and enjoy a taste of Bavarian brewing tradition wherever you are.
Why we love it:
Benediktiner Weissbier gets the balance just right: full-bodied and gently sweet, with fresh citrus, soft spice and a lively, refreshing finish. Its natural cloudiness and generous white head give it that classic Weissbier appeal, while the combination of banana-like fruitiness, honeyed malt and clove makes every sip interesting. It's a wonderfully versatile beer, equally enjoyable on its own or paired with good food.
