Amaretto Sour is a classic cocktail made with Amaretto - an Italian liqueur with almond flavour. Amaretto Sour is a sweet and just a bit sour cocktail, it is perfect as an aperitif before your dinner to wake your appetite up. So, how do you make one?
Ingredients you'll need:
- 50 ml Amaretto (our favourite is Bordiga Amaretto)
- 30 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 10 ml cherry syrup from a maraschino cherry jar
- Egg white
- Maraschino cherries and lemon zest to garnish
Optional:

A dash of whiskey or vodka to taste
Method:
Put your Amaretto liqueur, spirit of your liking, freshly squeezed lemon juice and maraschino cherry syrup in a cocktail shaker and add an egg white. Firstly, we dry shake. Wrap a kitchen towel around your shaker and shake vigorously! Add a good scoop of ice to the cocktail, close the shaker and now shake again. Double strain the cocktail in your favourite glassware and garnish with a lemon zest and a few maraschino cherries on a cocktail skewer.
If you prefer a vegan version of this cocktail, use the vegan foaming bitters instead of the egg whites. Super easy!
